Sex and a ladder

When I get bored I surf the web.  When I surf the web I will often go on Craigslist to keep up with all my favorite cities.  And I don’t just mean my geographical local city, I mean rooms for rent in San Francisco and Manhattan; the services in Los Angeles; gigs in Miami; for sale items in Alaska and of course “Best of Craigslist” is always entertaining.

This week I received a call from my girlfriend – actually change that to a call to my husband from my girlfriend because she wanted to post a ladder for sale on Craigslist.  (Why she didn’t think I couldn’t answer all her ladder questions, I have no idea).

The result of that conversation ended up with a Craigslist ad that looked like this:

Werner 6 ft 300 lb ladder & 2 ft 300 lb ladder – $105

*Do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers

Did I mention that I was bored?  Took me a few minutes, but I finally located the ladder ad on Craigslist for her city.  And so of course I had to respond:

Yes, I was inquiring about your ladders.  Could you tell me if they have ever been used sexually? Not that I am a prude or anything, but I just want to make sure I would be purchasing a “semen free” ladder.
I appreciate your prompt response.
And then I waited.  Because  you never know what you’ll get when you post to Craigslist.
Now, while I think this is hilarious, in hindsight what really would have been funny would have been if this ad was not posted by my friend at all; but a total stranger.
How awkward would that have been?
